Through our platform, employers can see freelance workers based on their major, interests, and skills in order to ensure that the workers are suited to the specific task the business requires.
Research findings:
Research 1
You might think that in the middle of this pandemic economy, with millions of Americans out of work and the unemployment rate hovering around 8%, it’d be easy for businesses to find workers to hire right now. But a recent report from the ‘National Federation of Independent Business’ found that over a third of small businesses have open positions they haven’t been able to fill.
About three weeks ago, Holly Dreeuws started looking to hire a few more workers for the pool construction company she runs in San Diego, California. She’s still looking.“We cannot get somebody in to interview for the life of us,” she said. Dreeuws says she’s floored. “We get hits all the time, we call, we set up interviews and most of the time they don’t show.”
Research 2
In a recent survey by Robert Half, 60 percent of small business owners report the biggest challenge they face in hiring or managing staff is simply finding skilled workers to do the job. (The second-biggest concern—maintaining employee morale and productivity—was far behind, cited by only 19 percent of respondents.)
It’s hard to believe finding staff is still a problem in a marketplace where so many people are still unemployed, underemployed or looking to switch jobs. What gives? Some workers have been out of the workforce so long that their skills have atrophied. Others, even those with jobs, haven’t kept up with the rapid pace of workplace change.
But for many small businesses, the problem is not the kind of workers that are out there, but the way they approach hiring. Big companies have huge HR divisions, established brands and clear-cut pathways for employee advancement. For small companies, the brand recognition is likely not there, the recruiting staff probably isn’t in place, and the advantages of working at an entrepreneurial business may not be readily apparent.
Users persona:
Start-up and small-sized businesses that have low capital
Businesses incurring financial crisis from COVID-19 that want to save up costs
Businesses that does not need full-time employees as it is a small amount of work
Businesses that need temporary / part-time employees, eg. restaurants that only need more waiters during rush hours
Problem + solution presented:
Problems:
Small businesses are struggling to find qualified workers
Businesses have to pay at a high price to get the type of workers they want.
Sometimes businesses need a person to do just a small amount of work to fill the gap but they don’t want to hire them in the long term. (flexible working hour)
It is hard for small businesses to find workers in a rush time as a freelance or part time job.
Current solutions:
Employers pay high rate to hire skilled workers that match with the job (good offers and welfare may be required to hire)
Recruiting freelancers/ part-time workers via social media or online platforms
Recruiting by print advertising
Searching potential candidates on recruitment sites
Contacting the education institution: universities / schools
Solutions:
Able to find qualified workers at a lower price without any commitment
Candidates have been scanned in order to work at their best for the businesses
Freelancers / part-time workers have matching skills and abilities with your needs
Able to find freelancers / part-time workers in a rush time or for temporary
Able to find the freelancers / part-time workers only for a period of time offered by businesses (pay rate is according to the job order rather than salary, so save costs)
Able to see the profile, portfolio, and online resume of the candidates before recruiting or making a contract
