Last year, I had a chance to work at my dad's company since I was rejected to work at most firms due to unstable time management. When I first entered the company, I had no idea what was going on and what my goal was in working this time. Then, my manager from the marketing sector offered me a job which was to create an interactive website for the company. While we were working, I realized that no one had the ability to create an effective website because they all work for the marketing sector and have no knowledge about coding and designing. So, we talked to several website creators but all turned out over the budget. Then I decided to ask my friend who is studying engineering at Thammasat University but he couldn't help because it was during his exam week. Then, I asked my friend from engineering Chulalongkorn university to help and she agreed. However, it was impossible to see her past works, so the rate was super low compared to the market price. Surprisingly, her work turned out to be impressive. A month later, the website needed to be upgraded. So we contacted her but she couldn’t help due to exams. This event made me realize hiring students from top universities and top programs saves cost and is very effective. however, their schedules are not flexible.

So, we came up with “COLLANCE”, a solution to help SME find quality students with a good price which we can see their portfolio and their time schedule. by doing this, the students are required to fill in their strength skill for example creating a website. Students also need to fill in their availability. After that, the platform will create a portfolio for them for the employers to see.

Our platform not only saves the company budget, but also is very trustworthy. Because the students, our partners, are from top universities and are professional in the subject. Through our platform, employers can see freelance workers based on their major, interests, and skills in order to ensure that the workers are suited to the specific task the business requires. Also we want to provide opportunities for college students without having to follow strict rules. It does not only open more options for students to gain income, but also build up a student portfolio and personal experience. Various jobs are available whether it is a job in firms or universities.

Early customers:

Our ideal customers, according to the interview, mainly include marketing companies, startup companies, companies with on demand staffing jobs, and companies that have low budgets.

Process:

In order to use our platform, college students are required to select categories of jobs and create their portfolio on the website. Instead of freelancers having to find work and submit their portfolio to hundreds of employers which have no clue how many of them are actually interested in hiring, employers will post job descriptions with periods of employment and job pay rate. Then the notification of jobs available will be sent to the students to consider. After that the employers will receive portfolios and recruit from students who agree with terms and conditions of the job. With this way, both employers and freelancers can select the right target without having to feel frustrated.

Compare:

Employers usually face problems such as work over budget, hard to find freelancers in rush time and lack of qualified workers. On the other side, students may want to earn extra earnings or build a strong portfolio but have limited time availability. For collance, we provide cost effective, variety of categories, availability of the students and qualified work.

Market size:

According to our research, there are 745,600 college students from top 20 universities in Thailand. About 85,000 of them are in programs related to freelance jobs which estimated 30% will be our capacity market customers in the long term. If 25,682 students have an average value per job of 2,500 baht and average of 4 jobs per year, students will earn a total income as freelancers at 256,824,000 baht per year.

Income:

For the commission fees or service fees, we will collect 10% of the job pay rate. If we collected 10% commision fees, we will receive 25,682,400 baht per year. And another source of income will come from advertising.

Positioning map:

Based on the positioning map, our competitors are Freelancer and Fastwork. Our platform aims for businesses with limited budgets and college students who seek for freelance jobs.

Unique value:

The major difference which makes our platform convenient for both employers and freelancers is that employers can select freelancers from 100 of the submitted portfolio while fastwork entrepreneurs have to greet 100 people to describe the job themselves.

Timeline:

As shown on our business timeline, we are currently in the process between Validating Problem and Market and working on a draft of our prototype. After this, we will hear the opinions from our target audiences in order to evaluate the interaction of our prototype. Then, this will be presented to the angels and investors.

Goals:

Our main goal in the future is to scale our platform for the whole Thailand freelancers market. We hope to expand our market all over Thailand and continue to gain trust of our customers by the first quarter of 2021. Toward the end of the year, we will launch a full version ready to be explored.

Team:

We are a close group of friends that know each other really well which is why we believe that our work is going to turn out well established. We are not going to stop with finding the best freelancers, but we want to be a product of real work to provide quality graduates.
