[Health Medic]
For the past decade, Chinese people have begun to pay more attention to their health and well-being as can be seen from the rising amount of healthcare spendings each year. The healthcare trend is now growing in many aspects through a byproduct of China Government’s policies and measures. The Chinese government has recently established a long-term plan 'Healthy China 2030', which aims to promote health and well-being of its citizens. Both public and private sectors have been working together to achieve the following strategic goals: Healthy living, Popularizing health knowledge, and Improving Healthcare industry.
“Health Medic”, a mobile application that makes healthcare more affordable and accessible to everyone, especially patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes. One platform serves six main functionalities of health tracking calendar, health community group talks, health articles, hospital emergency button, private consultation, and health risk assessment. Our health tracking calendar gestures as a daily reminder to record health conditions and to take medication as well as a reminder to follow up the doctor appointments. Health community is a space that allows users to anonymously communicate with patients who develop paired diseases. Our platform has an additional feature that contributes educational health articles according to different age groups. We also provide a feature that offers location tracking to escort patients to the nearest hospital in case of an emergency: When the patient clicks the emergency button, the SOS call system will report an emergency and quickly send GPS life alerts to the nearest hospital by integrating a GPS tracking system. To access the highest healthcare possible, our premium plan supplies private consultation where the user can make an appointment with doctors and medical specialists. Additionally, our platform will collect the data of the patient’s hospital visits from the past to the present based on the symptoms that the patient is experiencing in order to assess the possibility of the disease that they might develop through a health risk assessment feature.
Our target customers consist of diabetes and cardiovascular patients, which according to our research, in China, diabetes patients are largely found in the middle ages to elders in the age of 20 to 79 years old and cardiovascular disease is mostly found in adults aged 65 or older. Since our target customers are from a variety of age ranges, they use various types of social media platforms in their daily life. Our aim is to approach the target customers through 5 social platforms — Douyin, Zhihu, Youku, Weibo, and Wechat — by advertising through banner and video advertisements as well as KOL or influencers.
Based on the government policy “Healthy China 2030”, Health Medic provides in-app features to achieve the following strategic goals: Healthy living, Popularizing health knowledge, and Improving Healthcare industry. Because our platform needs to collect customers' data in order to track their health and check their risks of developing diseases, there is a new data protection rule in China. The rules aimed specifically at tech giants that are in the business of running social media and e-commerce platforms. PIPL establishes a maximum fine of up to 50 million yuan or 5% of the company’s annual turnover, an amount that is larger than the maximum allowed under the GDPR.
The key performance indicators are separated into two parts: operations and finance. For operations we aim for average users’ wait time which results in user satisfaction and effectiveness, user satisfaction to gain feedback and improve services, track of user’s appointment to avoid any cancellation which results in a better outcome, emergency button to evaluate urgent services, and monthly active user. Whereas finance, we aim to evaluate the number of signups on premium account and the average subscription length
Examples of social impact include improving the gap among various social segments and providing equal access through online group talk communities. Health and wellness as a result for more access to healthcare. Privacy and security for a better protection of user’s privacy. On the other hand, impact on economics, including increasing more job opportunities for unemployed people, growing economies, higher productivity, improved quality of life, increased life expectancy, reduced patient presentations, freeing healthcare professionals to concentrate on what they do best, and financial resources.
Since our target customers are aged around 20 to 60, they use various types of social media platforms in their daily life. Weibo is believed to be the most popular social media which attracts users from a very wide range of age groups from below 20 to above 50 with a number of active users of 1 billion. We plan to advertise through banner and video advertisements as well as KOL or influencers on all listed social platforms. In the future, we will also collaborate with individual partners who provide technical and medical services for Health Medic.
We started brainstorming projects in the 3rd week of July 2021 followed by idea selection. We mainly focus on data analytic for the idea selection part to come up with the best idea. We are now in the middle of doing business analysis to foresee the market's possibilities and we are working hard on our development to come up with the best solution. After finalizing our development, we move on to the testing session on our prototype. We did several intense observations to make sure there were no errors in the product and try to maximize the product’s potential before launching upon our observation.
Moving onto the impact. Our early target is in China Asean first then further promote it globally. By having a free entry application so all people come and use the app and also the function itself will have a low chun rate. The revenue came from the number of users itself and the premium subscription plan. Our prediction in the first 5 years will gain up to 2.5m users and gain revenue up to 8.7 million then. The key assumption is that people will buy our subscription plan for 30% of the users and most of them purchase the yearly plan as it costs less for our client up to 58%. However, our main cost for this platform is in the increase in employees and to state a platform. For our 4th and 5 th years CAGR is about 2.12 % and our 4 years ROI is at 246.45%.
We are a group of people who see this problem as an opportunity to help patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes. We are not going to stop at making healthcare more affordable and accessible to everyone, but we want to lead to a better quality of life for our customers’ lives.
